About Steven...

My name is Steven Navarro. While I am very ambitious with this project, I wouldn't include anything about myself unless it somehow enhanced your understanding of what to expect from taking my massage workshop.

First off, when I say I teach workshops, sometimes other therapists reply with a remark like "won't you make less money?". This is a good segway into my story...

I never planned to become a massage therapist. I grew up in Sweden: Land of the Swedish Massage. I already knew that massage was good for you, but nobody in the steel refinery town of LuleƄ could afford it. As I was so growing up I didn't know that one could do massage for a living. But I always knew massage would be part of any relationship I would ever have.

Perhaps you were never asked to massage your aunt's feet for her asthma when you were a 7 year old. Maybe massge didn't fix your back pain when you were 22 and in the army. I didn't decide I was switching careers to become a massage therapist after 9/11. I decided, while deployed in Kosovo, that I would do as much good with my life as I could for as many people as possible. Somehow, during that journey I stumbled across massage. I was also very young then, so I had the audacity to want to teach others. This is turning the concept of massage therapy upside down. Massage is only becoming more prevalent because it works. I hope to help spread this knowledge so that more people can benefit from massage. It feels good and it is good for you. I trust my passion for teaching massage is blatantly obvious.

Imagine, if your best childhood friend had become a massage therapist and wanted to show you a few tricks to use at home. This is what I want to do for you. You don't need a license to give massages, but a little know how goes a long way.
